Why I came to Lagos to build a women's football academy

There are easier places to start. There are cheaper places to build. I chose Lagos because the girls are already here, and they are already good.

People ask me why Lagos.

The truth is, Lagos was never just a location to me. Lagos was where I came chasing one football dream. Like many people who leave home with ambition in their hearts, I believed the city could carry me somewhere new.

The girls are already here

There are easier places to start an academy. There are cheaper places to build one. But you cannot manufacture what Lagos already has: girls who can play, girls who want to play, and a city that will notice when something serious is being built for them.

Every intake reminds me of this. The talent is not the question. The infrastructure around the talent is the question.

What "institution" means to me

An institution is what remains after the founder walks away. That is the standard I hold this work to. Not a club. Not a project. An institution.
